General
What does Eir mean exactly?
We are glad you asked! In Scandinavian mythology, Eir -- pronounced “air” -- was the Goddess of Healing + Medicine. She traveled far and wide to heal others using herbs and natural medicine. Makes sense, right?
What is natural medicine?
Natural Medicine is an all encompassing term that refers to healthcare using bodywork, herbs, plants, and non-pharmaceutical tools. At Eir Mobile Medicine, Natural Medicine specifically refers to Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Traditional Eastern Medicine modalities, and good ol’ fashioned fun. (Laughter = medicine!)
Can I pre-book an appointment?
Yes! Pre-booking is available directly HERE.
Why mobile?
We believe you deserve to feel your best, wherever you are. So we put that belief into action every single day, and “pop up” wherever you need us throughout Victoria and the Capital Regional District.
Do you take insurance?
We are proud to offer Direct Billing for most extended healthcare plans here in BC. Contact us if you’d like Eir to check your coverage.
What if I need to cancel?
We totally get it — life happens. We ask for 24 hour notice for cancellations. You can easily do this through our online booking platform.
How does the mobile studio work exactly?
To put it simply: We are just like your favourite food truck…. but with healthcare! We are a full service Acupuncture + Natural Medicine clinic on wheels. You will find us around town at your favourite seasonal markets + festivals, and you can book your own personal session and bring us to your home or workplace.
How can I find you?
You may catch a glimpse of our Mobile Studio driving around town, but for our most up to date schedule, check out our current schedule HERE. And, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us here!
Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture, in its simplest form, is the use of pressure or (extremely) thin needles to activate specific anatomic points throughout the body. These points work within the fascial network to stimulate your body’s self-healing response. This includes releasing endorphins (hello good times!), increasing circulation, reducing pain + inflammation, and activating the central nervous system. Think of acu as your [scientifically-proven] super power.
Does is hurt?
Not at all! It’s a pretty cool feeling, actually. Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, but a lot of folks describe the sensation as warm, buzzy, achey (the good kind), or nothing at all!
What does it treat?
Acupuncture is a wonderful additive to your healthcare routine! It’s probably easier to answer this question by telling you what acu CAN’T help with. (Hint: If you break your arm, it’s best that you head straight to the hospital…) Our Eir Treatment Menu is a great place to start when wondering how acupuncture can help you. But, since you asked here...the World Health Organization lists acupuncture as a proven therapy for a number of different conditions. Check them out HERE.
